Hippo Sofa

Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl, the Hippo Sofa is defined by soft, rounded forms and a sculptural silhouette that introduces an organic contrast to the straight lines of an interior.

Equally expressive from every angle, Hippo is designed to stand freely within a room rather than being positioned exclusively against a wall. Its oversized curved back provides generous comfort, while its low profile allows users to turn easily and engage in conversation with people seated around or behind the sofa.

The Hippo Sofa is available in two distinct versions:

• Hippo Sofa | Full Upholstery: introduced in 2022, with a completely upholstered exterior that emphasises its soft, continuous silhouette.
• Hippo Sofa | Wood: introduced in 2025, featuring visible solid-oak rear elements that add warmth and highlight the sofa’s craftsmanship.

Both versions are offered in one fixed size, can accommodate up to four people and may be positioned traditionally, at an angle or offset within the room.

The Full Upholstery version combines a chipboard and foam seat with a back constructed from pine and plywood. The Wood version features a cut-foam seat on a plywood frame with solid-oak rear legs and a visible wooden back element.

Oak finishes available for the Wood version include:

• Natural Oak
• Light Smoked Oak
• Dark Smoked Oak
• Black Oak

Both versions can be customised in a wide selection of upholstery fabrics, colours and textures. Different fabrics may give the sofa a slightly different appearance, and some textiles can naturally develop gentle wrinkling around the curved seating areas.
